広島原爆投下から75年目となる2020年8月6日午前8時15分に黙祷の後、8時16分に記憶を新たに刻むプロジェクト「FUTURE MEMORY」が発表された。
「Zero Project 2020」の一環として、広島平和記念資料館の協力のもと、藤元明とCannon Herseyの共同で制作した作品だ。FUTURE MEMORYは、日本で最も重要な記憶を伝え続けてきた広島平和記念資料館の展示室を３Dで再現、被爆資料の３D化映像とともに世界に発信するものである。公式ウェブサイト「1future.jp」を通して無料公開し、世界の人々が人類共通の記憶に触れる機会を創出する。
放射線と極度の熱にさらされ、土と人骨と融合してしまったオブジェたち ー万年筆、おばあちゃんの茶器、ビール瓶のキャップ、釘、錠、懐中時計。どの家にでもある、どの町や学校にもあるような「名のないオブジェたち」。それはある家族の悲しい記憶であるばかりでなく人類の記憶でもある。我々の文明が生んだ戦争で、人が人に対して行った最も残酷なできごとを、このオブジェたちは何千年もの間忘れることなく、人類の負の記憶としてとして伝え続ける。
あの日起きたことを伝えるアイコンーそれはそびえ立つキノコ雲のイメージだろうか、それとも命を落としてしまった子供の記憶を伝える三輪車だろうか。原爆の恐怖を直接知る被爆者の記憶はいつしか遠い存在となってしまう。過ちを繰り返さないために、我々には何が遺されているだろうか。
On August 6, 2020, the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, at 8:15 a.m., after a silent prayer at 8:15 a.m., the project "FUTURE MEMORY" was announced at 8:16 a.m. to mark the memory anew.
Fading memories of history and the evidence left behind.
This is an art project that shares the memories of this day with the world as a new experience, creating a future of memory.

FUTURE PROJECT release letter
Launched in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the atomic bomb of Hiroshima on August 6th, 8:16 am, Future Memory creates a virtual online experience for global audiences to explore the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum’s galleries and objects free and open to the public atwww.1future.jp. Created and exhibited by Artists (Akira Fujimoto/Cannon Hersey) as part of 1Future presents Zero Project 2019 and 2020 and developed over 5 years of working in Hiroshima with over 18 visits by Cannon Hersey from NYC.
A pen, a grandmother’s tea set, beer bottle caps, nails, a lock, a pocket watch- exposed to radiation and extreme heat that fused the objects with earth and human bone. These common objects of any home, community or school have no name. They are not any family’s sad memory, but the sad memory of humanity that will remember for thousands of years our brutality to our fellow man during this era of industrialization and world war.
Is the icon the towering mushroom cloud or is it the tricycle and the memory of the children’s life lost that day? We will someday be without any nuclear survivors with first hand memory of the horrors of the atomic blast, what will save us from repeating history?
