多面体 -polyhedron- Hiroko Otake Statement
私の作品のテーマは“流動的な瞬間の中にある恒常性”です。モチーフとして扱う蝶や花に重ねるイメージもまた、常に流動的な現在の瞬間です。幼虫から蛹、蛹の中で一度液化して成虫としての蝶となる完全変態に象徴的な変化のイメージを重ね、蕾から花が咲き、やがて枯れ種ができ、新たな芽生えの根源になる自然の循環や摂理に、儚さと共に生命の強さや輝きを感じています。
動的平衡の様に変化し続けるからこそ現在の自己が保たれている関係や、アートマンとブラフマンの様に、流動的であることと相反する恒常的なこととが同時に存在するという関係の中にこそ真理があるのではないかと作品を通して模索しています。
今回の展示では、これまでの“変化し続けること”と“変わらないもの”の相反する２つの事柄から、さらに多面的な思考を融合させた制作を試みました。
1階の展示では、蝶や花という具象表現から離れ、象徴的な表現にも挑戦し、現代日本社会での“日本的なモノ”からの解放と同時に私たちのアイデンティティでもある“日本的なモノ”を再考しました。
2階の展示は、5年前から始めた鏡の作品シリーズで、制作者である自己のみで作品が完成するのではなく、観賞者である他者や作品が置かれる環境を鏡に映し取り込む事で作品が完成する、他者との関係性や、様々な角度から見る多面的な自己に向き合うことで見えてくる新たな気付きをテーマに制作しました。
コロナ禍での状況は数ヶ月、又は1年で“元どおり”の世界に戻るものではないと実感しています。
世界は、パンデミック前において当然のことと考えられていた認識や思想、社会全体の価値観が劇的に変化しています。
アート作品は時代を投影する。私たちクリエーターはこのパラダイムシフトと向き合い、どの様に作品として昇華できるのかを、作品をつくる事で考えていきたいと思い制作しました。
新たな生活や思考と共に、必然的に変化し続ける状況の中だからこそ、世界中の人々が、本質的な生き方とは何かを考え、各々がそれに近づければと願っています。

常に変容し続ける現代日本画家・大竹寛子。
彼女は、相反するコトの中にある美しさを模索し、日本画の技法を用いて現代アーティストとして活動している。
モチーフとて多く扱う花や蝶といった生命の中に、一見すると燃やしたり溶かした様な破滅的にも感じる表現方法は、美しくも儚い生命の循環や変容の神秘を感じさせる。
日本画のテクニックや日本的感覚を新しい表現方法として観る側に感じさせる作風は、アーティスト大竹自身として変容し続けるコトでもあり、
自然摂理と現代社会との相互関係を紐解こうとする姿勢そのものだとも言える。
今展では、これまでの表現方法をさらに進化させ、多面体-polyhedron- として彼女の様々な側面を1階・2階とに分けて展示し、自身初となるインスタレーションにも挑戦している。
コロナ以降の新時代におけるアーティストの変容や、モノの捉え方・考え方における「普通」と「変容」といった相反するコトが共存する中にある『普遍』を感じさせる作品群になるだろう。
今まで普通だと考えられていた認識や思想、社会全体の中での価値観が劇的に変容し続ける現代において、アートが持つ普遍的な存在価値を改めて感じてもらいたい。

The main theme of my work is "constancy in a fluid moment." Layers of flowers and butterflies , constantly flowing in an instant.
Larva to pupa; it liquefies to become a butterfly.
Metamorphosis, a symbol of change.
Bud to flower. Blooming. Eventually dies, giving birth to new seeds. A new beginning, a new “bloom” .
captivated by the ephemeral and yet powerful living-cycle, by the laws of nature.
believing that there is a "truth" in opposite things that coexist together, just like Atman and Brahman, finding a dynamic equilibrium. I use my work as a medium to explore and understand all of this.
In this exhibition, I tried to create a fusion of multi-faceted thinking from the two conflicting beliefs : "constant change" and "quiet, immutable things".
In the first floor I have tried to show old and new concepts, butterflies, flowers. easy to understand ideas. and at the same time abstraction.
Second floor: mirror-works, a series I started 5 years ago.
Re-thinking concepts of our contemporary society, Japanese identity. deconstructing "typically-japanese-ideas"
The link between the viewer and the creator, facing oneself from different angles and realizing about new things.
2020 Corona times; The world isn't going ”back to normal” in a few months nor in a year. I realized.
Perceptions, ideas, and values of society as a whole have changed dramatically.
We, creators, are facing this paradigm directly; through my work is my reflection.
The world is inevitably changing with new lives and thoughts, and people all over the globe are wondering: what an essential way of life is, and I hope that each of them can get to an answer.
